1. Overview
FocusBlocker is a productivity application designed to help users stay focused by blocking distracting content, apps, and keywords on their Android device. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and what permissions the app requires.
2. Data Collection
FocusBlocker does not collect any personal information or user data. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Personal information such as name, email address, or phone number
- Location data
- Browsing history or search queries
- App usage data or analytics
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Any content displayed on your screen
3. Local Data Storage
All application settings and preferences are stored locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences system. This includes:
- Your list of blocked keywords
- Focus session configurations and schedules
- List of apps you have chosen to block
- Productivity statistics and block counts
- Power Mode password (stored as a secure hash)
No data stored by FocusBlocker is uploaded, transmitted, or shared with any external server or third party. All information remains exclusively on your device.
4. Internet Permission
FocusBlocker does not request or use the android.permission.INTERNET permission. The application functions completely offline and does not:
- Make any network requests
- Connect to external APIs or servers
- Synchronize data with cloud services
- Download remote configurations
- Display advertisements or analytics
5. Permissions Required
5.1 Accessibility Service
Permission: android.permission.BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE
Purpose: FocusBlocker uses the Accessibility Service solely to detect and block distracting content based on your configured preferences.
Accessibility Service is used only for user-initiated features and not for any other purpose.
What the app accesses:
- Screen text content to compare against your blocked keywords list
- Current app package name to determine if an app should be blocked
- Window events to trigger blocking actions when needed
What the app does not do:
- Does not store, log, or record any screen content
- Does not transmit any screen data to external servers
- Does not use Accessibility Service for any purpose other than content blocking
You can disable the Accessibility Service at any time through your device settings: Settings > Accessibility > FocusBlocker.
5.2 Display Over Other Apps
Permission: SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW
Purpose: This permission allows FocusBlocker to display a blocking overlay when you attempt to access blocked content.
What the overlay shows:
- A notification indicating that the content is blocked
- A timer showing your Focus session progress
- A motivational message to help you stay focused
- A button to dismiss the overlay
You can revoke this permission at any time through your device settings: Settings > Apps > Special app access > Display over other apps > FocusBlocker.
5.3 Device Administrator (Optional - Power Mode)
Purpose: When Power Mode is enabled, Device Administrator permission helps prevent accidental or unauthorized changes to FocusBlocker settings.
What this enables:
- Prevents uninstalling the app without entering your password
- Prevents disabling the Accessibility Service without authorization
- Locks app settings to maintain your focus goals
This permission is optional and only activated when you explicitly enable Power Mode. You can deactivate Device Administrator at any time through your device settings: Settings > Security > Device admin apps > FocusBlocker.
5.4 Notifications
Permission: POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13 and above)
Purpose: To optionally notify you when content is blocked while the app is running in the background.
You can manage notification preferences at any time through your device settings: Settings > Apps > FocusBlocker > Notifications.
6. Third-Party Services
FocusBlocker does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data collection SDKs. The app operates independently without external dependencies.
7. Data Deletion
You may delete all data associated with FocusBlocker at any time using one of the following methods:
Method 1: Clear App Data
Navigate to Settings > Apps > FocusBlocker > Storage > Clear Data.
Method 2: Uninstall the App
Long-press the FocusBlocker icon, select App Info, then tap Uninstall.
Note: If Power Mode is active with Device Administrator enabled, you must first disable Power Mode by entering your password, then deactivate Device Administrator in your Security settings before uninstalling.
8. Children's Privacy
FocusBlocker is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us at waqasnahimain@gmail.com.
